Rodions Kurucs 19 Points Full Highlights (1/10/2020)

Rodions Kurucs was one of the more fun stories of last season. Everyone loves a random second-round Euro coming in and defying expectations by doing anything at all. He came in and right away started playing quality minutes (at least until he got injured or whatever, I don’t remember very clearly anymore) and eventually earned a starting gig. He was a major part of what made the Nets so fun last year.

This year, the Nets are not as fun and Kurucs is likewise, not as fun. There was a domestic abuse case that happened during the offseason (which I haven’t heard much about lately, isn’t it the job of the internet to make sure everyone is always aware of stuff like that?), which probably didn’t help. But the main problem was the the Nets had aspirations of being an actually good team, and playing a still raw young player big minutes didn’t lead them any closer to their goal of a playoff spot.

But now things are all messed up in Brooklyn, everyone is injured, and they need production wherever they can find it. Kurucs, unfortunately, hasn’t been the one to give them that production, until tonight. And coincidentally, the Nets won! Kurucs has been playing double digit minutes for about 10 games, and until tonight, the Nets had lost all of those. Remember, correlation equals causation. Always. I didn’t learn much in school, but I did learn that.
