Remember: the ‘Zards traded this dude for Trevor Ariza. Trevor Ariza. Not even anyone good. Trevor Ariza. Now, I understand that they traded him because they didn’t want to have to pay him during the offseason and wanted to get some value for him before he went away forever, but still. Trevor Ariza.
Trevor Ariza.
A RENTAL of Trevor Ariza, to be more precise.
The Suns are laughing all the way to the bank now, because it turns out that with just a little bit of confidence from the coaching staff and an expanded role, Kelly Oubre can get BUCKETS. He’s basically the second banana for the Suns after Devin Booker, and he’s filling that role really well. He’s improved as a shooter, and his attacks to the basket seem to be working better than ever.
And not only is he getting buckets, but now, like Russell Westbrook famously discovered, he has found out that if you just run in there by the basket after a shot goes up, you can get hella rebounds. He had 15 of them tonight. And you know that 25 and 15 is something the Suns version of Shaq only WISHES he could do.
