I’m confused as heck right now.
Domantas Sabonis had 25 points in the first half of this game. 25 points! Actually, he had 25 points by the halfway point of the second quarter. He was completely unstoppable at the rim. Nobody on the Timberwolves had the girthage, the meatage, or the thickage to prevent Sabonis from finishing at the basket. The SABONER was out in full force and Sabonis was swinging it around heedless to who might get a faceful of it.
Then the second half happened. Sabonis attempted three shots, making two of them, and that was it. A guaranteed career high was left one point short because Sabonis only scored four points in the the half.
I didn’t watch the game, so I don’t know what happened. Did the Pacers guards just stop going to Sabonis, or did Sabonis himself stop trying to score, or did the Timberwolves bigs figure out a way to prevent Sabonis from unleashing his Saboner on them? That last one seems the most unlikely to me given the way that Sabonis dominated the first half like he was prime Sabonis Sr. I’m going to blame Malcolm Brogdon because I’m still secretly sad that he’s not on the Bucks anymore, so I need to lash out at him. I hate you Malcolm Brogdon. Pass the god damn ball to Sabonis you idiot.
This is such a wasted opportunity. Sabonis wasn’t just on his way to a thirty-point game, he was on his way to forty points. A frickin’ forty-burger, and we got robbed. I would ask for my money back, but since I didn’t actually go to this game, I demand that the Pacers organization send me one of their mini donut machines so that I can use it in my highlight den to have fresh, hot mini donuts whenever I want. And if they don’t have a mini donut machine, I at least want a popcorn machine. Because this is unacceptable. The entire country of Lithuania should join me in calls for free concessions from the Pacers’ concessions division.
