Do you think Danny Green, JaVale McGee and LeBron James loudly compare their championship rings in the locker room to piss off the rest of their ringless teammates? Especially players like Dwight Howard and Anthony Davis who have had long, productive careers but haven’t won it all yet? Like, Green casually shows McGee his hand and says, “check out this one I won with the Raptors, it has my face on it made out of millions of tiny diamonds, it’s too bad that all these scrubs don’t have any NBA world champion rings to adorn their fingers,” and then McGee guffaws loudly and says “Yeah what a bunch of scrubs.”
And it’s not like anybody can do anything about it because if they tried to physically attack you, you would just punch them while wearing the rings and probably pop both their eyeballs. I have personally seen dudes get their eyeballs popped by a well-placed punch to the face by a guy wearing rings on his fingers. It was gross.
The Lakers have a chance to get all their scrubs a championship ring this season, and Danny Green is a significant part of their hopes. Well, maybe “significant” is too strong a word, since he’s way less significant than LeBron and AD, but he’s definitely a guy they want to get hot when the playoffs come around. Remember, he’s got championship experience and isn’t shy about taking big shots and big times. Maybe they should manage his load so he’s fresh for the Finals.
