OFFICIAL DTB REMINDER: In 2015, the Milwaukee Bucks traded Norman Powell and a first round pick in exchange for Greivis Vasquez. This trade has been the topic of many of my video descriptions over the past few years, simply because, whenever I think of it, I get the overwhelming urge to find Jason Kidd (wherever he is) and sock him in the nuts. Kidd would probably go on alcohol-fueled rampage and push me down a flight of stairs or run me over with his car, but it would be worth it to just get that one nut-punch. I mean, it’s Greivis Vasquez. Frickin’ Greivis Vasquez. You don’t need to sell the farm to acquire him. The Raptors found out they were getting a pick back in the deal and started laughing and high-fiving each other because they thought they were the ones who would have to give back a pick just to unload Vas Deferens.
Vasquez is probably an assistant coach at a Div-II NCAA program while Powell is out there scoring twenty in four straight games. Not only that, but Powell has a fresh new cut while Vasquez is probably still wearing that stupid faux-hawk that went out of style in 2009. And that first-round pick turned out to be OG Anunoby, not even some bust. Overall, the Bucks got completely hosed on the trade and it legitimately boils my blood whenever I think of it. And I think about it every time Powell has a good game. Which is all the time now.
The only positive thing coming out of all of this is that, if Powell keeps this up, I can boot him from my channel. He’s already averaging fifteen PPG per game and is on an upward trajectory as his confidence balloons. The confidence boost he would receive from discovering that he’s no longer eligible for highlight videos from YouTube’s premier scrub-based NBA highlights channel would launch him to even higher heights. So, actually, if I kicked him off right now, he would instantly become the Raptors’ number one option on offense and propel them to the finals. Doesn’t that sound good Raptors fans? Who needs Kawhi anyway?
