Cedi Osman 18 Points/6 Assists Full Highlights (1/25/2020)

After watching Cedi Osman lay the ball up rather than dunk it on a give-and-go play with Kevin Love, it occurred to me that I can’t remember ever seeing Osman dunk the ball. He gets a lot of layups, but never any dunks. Upon doing a YouTube search for “Cedi Osman Dunk”, some of the clips I found were vaguely familiar, but you could have told me that Osman has never dunked in his life and I would have fully believed you if I didn’t bother to check the facts (which I probably wouldn’t, since most people don’t have a reason to lie about things like that).

Basketball-reference alleges that Osman has two dunks so far this season. That’s very few for a player of his size who plays as many minutes as he does. Just going through the list of other players who have two dunks this season, the closest comparisons are, like, Marvin Williams, Garrett Temple, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and…Kevin Love. LOL (lots of laughs). But at least he’s better than Evan Fournier who has a total of one dunk this season.

I’m not such a simpleton that I only like players who are capable of dunking the ball with regularity. But I am enough of a simpleton that I think less of players who have the ability to dunk but prefer not to utilize it. A player like Osman, who gets a lot of his points by rushing at the basket, should be dunking it more and it upsets me that he doesn’t.
