Glenn Robinson III is probably tired of being compared to his dad, but I can’t help it. I’ve had to write too many video descriptions for this guy and I’m running out original material, so I have to fall back on the one distinctive trait he possesses that sets him apart from the rest of his peers: the fact that his dad was an NBA player, and a pretty good one at that.
The original Glenn Robinson (“OGGR”) was a 20 PPG per game scorer right off the bat and he kept it up for several years. He wasn’t the most efficient scorer ever, but he was an important part of the Bucks for a good period of time. That was before my Bucks fandom so I can’t comment on his career any more intelligently than that.
The new Glenn Robinson (“GRIII”) definitely did not come into the league as ready as his dad was. In fact, this is GRIII’s first season where he’s what I would call a “scorer”. He’s not a great scorer, but he is a scorer in ways that he wasn’t before. His development would have to accelerate rapidly for him to ever sniff 20 PPG per game, a mark which his dad reached and broke with regularity, but you’ve gotta think that, at this point, he’s at least not a total disappointment to his father.
