Jonas Valanciunas will never get the full amount of minutes he deserves until the fans demonstrate their displeasure en masse to the coach of whatever team he happens to be on (at this moment, Taylor Jenkins of the Memphis Grizzlies is his coach). Attempting to do this via the internet is commendable, but ultimately fruitless, since there has never been any indication that any front office actually looks at the comments of uninformed NBA fans when trying to make their decisions.
What really needs to happen is a bunch of people from Lithuania need to get into airplanes and fly to Memphis and hold a rally outside the Fedex Forum. By waving signs that says “More Miniutiunas for Valanciunas” and “Why do Americans hate Valanciunas?” and “Lietuva paleis branduolines raketas”, the need for Valanciunas to consistently get 30 PPG per game will be made abundantly clear to the frightened executives who are trapped inside the building with no way to escape through the seemingly calm, but easily provoked and seething with raw anger, mob.
This is a great deal for Lithuanians because, not only do they get to enact real change on the world through their protests (which may or may not involve flipping over police cars), but they’ll get to eat as much authentic Memphis-style barbecue as their tummies can handle. I’m so jealous right now.
