Remember when Jason “The Point Guard Whisperer” Kidd thought he was going to turn Michael Carter-Williams into the next Jason Kidd? I don’t want to say he failed in his efforts, but the next Jason Kidd would never score 20 without dishing a single assist. Somehow he turned MCW into a scoring-only chucker instead. Oops!
Okay, that’s not true at all. Not even a little bit. There are a lot of scoring-only chuckers in the league (Terrence Ross waves happily from the elbow as he chucks up another midrange jimbo), but Carter-Williams is certainly not one of them. It just appears that way if you watch these highlights. And you really should watch these highlights, by the way. Same amount of points as Frank Ntilikina tonight, and you definitely already watched that vid, but this one is better because there are no lame assists cluttering it up and messing up the pacing.
I am now imagining a world where Carter-Williams just tried to score as much as possible while ignoring his teammates/the concept of defense, and I’ve got a little smile on my face. That would be so rad. Awful, but rad. Someone get this guy to China so we can make my dreams a reality.
