Props to these national announcers for somehow being aware, not only of Jerami Grant’s existence, but that he has greatly improved as a player since his early days. That’s an amount of insight that I don’t expect from dudes whose job it is to know about the entire NBA, which usually ends up being closer to “know about all the stars of the NBA as well as some of the funnier meme players”.
The comments they were making about him might have been slightly more accurate last year, which was the year he really broke out for the Thunder. This year, maybe you could even say he is a disappointment a little bit. Still a really solid player, but I think Nuggets fans were expecting more out of him.
The real question with Grant is this: why can’t he rebound? He’s tall, he’s springy, does he just not feel like rebounding? Does he defer to the Ivory Towers (that’s my new nickname for the Nikola Jokic/Mason Plumlee tandem, and no, I don’t care that I’ve used it for other white bigmen duos in the past), choosing to be a good teammate instead of padding his own stats? Perhaps this pressing question could be answered if I watched more Nuggets games, but I’m still so sad that I had to kick Jokic off my channel that I can hardly bear to turn on his games for even a second, except to make highlights.
