Unlike the Kelly Olynyk “20 Points/1 Quarter” highlight video that I uploaded a few hours ago, this video represents the statistical output of a player who literally only appeared in one quarter: the fourth. The Pelicans got BTFO the frick out by the Clippers rather quickly in this one, so the entire second half was garbago time, so Nickeil Alexander-Walker checked in at the beginning of the fourth and dropped in fifteen points during his twelve minutes of action.
Alexander-Walker (henceforth referred to as NAW or “Hell NAW”) is a player who enjoys taking shots, so it’s not surprising that he got into this game and immediately started shooting whenever the ball happened to reach him. I don’t want to casually invoke the names of Pelicans legends like Jordan Crawford and, well, mostly Jordan Crawford, but I was getting real Jordan Crawford vibes from Hell NAW. Crawford was the master of getting inserted late in games and chucking the air out of the ball until the final buzzer sounded. Hell NAW seems to be on the same path (shooting inefficiency and all).
I will take this opportunity to congratulate Hell NAW for his surprising efficiency in this game (he was 6-of-7 from the field) while also cautioning viewers that his chances of replicating this feat in any given game are remarkably low (he was a 34% shooter from the field heading into today’s game). That’s not quite Jordan Poole territory, except it kind of is. Uh oh.
