In my giddiness over the fact that the NBA season actually resumed successfully, despite the utter lack of normalcy outside of the bubble, I forgot about one thing:
My absolute burning hatred for free throws.
You’d think that, in four months where the only administrative tasks set before the NBA were which teams get to stay in which resort hotels, they could have come up with some way to play the game of basketball without free-throws. Either make the free throws into instant free points and allow play to immediately resume, or have all the free throws take place during a scheduled timeout at 3:00 in the fourth quarter, or just remove the concept of “fouling” from the game completely. There were lots of options, and Adam Silver didn’t act on any of them. It’s like he doesn’t care that my highlight videos are repeatedly getting ruined by players and their stupid tendency to get fouled and shoot free throws.
Ross took ten free throws in this game, making eight. This video isn’t ALL free throws, but it is MOSTLY free throws. Ross made just six shots, so, in my book, that’s TOO MANY free throws. I want to be happy that we get to watch NBA basketball again but this free throw thing is really dragging me down. God damn it.
