OFFICIAL DTB DISCLAIMER: Jerome Robinson needed to take eighteen shots in order to score seventeen points.
There is an old adage that goes, “Show me a man who attempts more field goals than scores points, and I will show you a man who had a detrimental effect on his team’s chances of winning.” I think that adage applies here. Big shout out to my great-grandpa for telling me that one on his deathbed.
Judging from the past two games, where he has scored twenty and seventeen points (way more points than one would normally expect him to score), Robinson is being “unleashed” right now. Whether or not this is a good thing is up for debate (hint: it’s not a good thing), but you can see how it’s happening: Bradley Beal is not participating in bubbleball and there aren’t really any other shooting guards on the roster who are ready to soak up Beal’s minutes.
But I also sort of wonder if Scott Brooks has got the ‘Zheimers and thinks Robinson actually IS Beal. It wouldn’t be surprising because if you squint really hard and tilt your head ninety degrees, Robinson sort looks a little bit like Beal. Kind of.
