Zion Williamson only had three games this season (out of 21 appearances) where he shot below 50% from the field. I’m just so used to high-efficiency outings from him that I get irrationally upset when he has a relatively poor shooting game. That’s why I’m irrationally upset right now. Zion went 9-of-21 from the field (and 5-of-10 from the line) AND THAT’S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME. Zion’s bucketage has to be voluminous, yes, but it also has to be accurate. Inaccurate bucketage is not what I want.
In other news, watching Zion’s shoe fly off during play and almost decapitate a fan (good thing there were no actual fans with exposed neck regions just begging for decapitation) reminded me of that time in college where he had a shoe-related mishap. I’m actually foggy on the details so I don’t know if it was the “funny” kind of incident where he destroyed his shoe with his hugeness or if it was the “serious” kind of incident where he destroyed his shoe with hugeness but some crucial part of his lower body got destroyed along with it.
Since I don’t feel like being sad right now, I’m just not going to look it up and pretend that it was the funny kind of incident. Nobody can tell me otherwise.
