Steven Adams takes a seriously scary fall in this video. So scary that I showed two replays of it just to underline how scary it was. On the replays it looks even scarier because you can see clearly his leg getting trapped and his knee bending in a freaky way.
But Adams’ body is comprised of 50% “I don’t give a frick” and 50% pure invulnerability to pain, so he just sort of got up and kept playing. The commentators were obviously expecting him to lie there for a bit. I think anybody on the court who actually saw what happened would feel the same way. For comparison’s sake, if the same thing happened to me and my leg, there would only be one thing on the coroner’s report: “Spontaneous leg amputation leading to massive blood loss and death”. Knowing me, my leg would also cramp up right as it was falling off. There’s a reason they call me “Mr. Cramps” at all the parks in a twenty mile radius. Because my legs cramp up all the time.
Other than that, Adams had some nice semi-isolation moves in this one where his defender clearly wasn’t expecting him to make an attempt to score. I’m sure if Adams displayed more scoring inclinations, his defenders would adjust accordingly, but for now it seems to work if Adams just pretends that he doesn’t want to score and then takes the opportunities as they arise.
