Joe Harris has made 171 threes this year. A decent amount of threes, not an incredible amount of threes. What’s really surprising is that he’s made 201 twos. I’m staring, mouth agape and eyes bulging, at the stats in front of me. How is it possible that Harris, three-point contest champion, has made more buckets from inside the arc than outside of it?
I was going to comment that this video contained an unusual amount of two-point field goals (5 of them, compared to 5 threes), but now it turns out that that ratio is actually on the low end for twos. Has this been the case his whole career and I just haven’t noticed? I’m freaking out.
Harris has never been the type to really jack threes up there, that’s for sure. That’s the one criticism I have for his game that has been consistent throughout his career. You’re a three-point champion, shoot like it, darn it. No one cares if your percentage goes down a bit while you shoot faders from 30 feet away like you’re Damian Lillard.
What I’m not going to comment on is how Harris had 23 points in the first half and only 2 in the second half. I’m proud to say that I did not allow even a milliliter of hype to course through my bloodstream in response to seeing Harris have so many early points. I knew it wasn’t going to last. You know how I knew? Because it’s Joe Harris.
