It doesn’t matter too much with only a few weeks left to go in the season, but I think Kelly Olynyk is OFFICIALLY off my channel for now. He’s averaging 18 PPG per game since getting traded to the Rockets, and in my semi-retired state, I need to be strict with my cutoffs. Just because I happen to be a big fan of Olynyk’s game, and his hair (not so much his beard), doesn’t mean I should continue to feature him on my channel as he regularly scores in the twenties like it’s no big deal. This dude is straight up too good. And he’s probably been too good for a while, we just haven’t noticed because he’s never gotten a role like this before.

The phenomenon of KOCC (Kelly Olynyk Contract Chaser) is easily observed here. Olynyk is on a bad team and his main competitors for shot attempts are Christian Wood and Kevin Porter, so it’s easy for him to take on more of the scoring responsibility and thereby make himself look more attractive in free agency. However, unlike many players who start chucking shots in search of better stats and a better payday, KOCC is actually rising to the challenge, not just improving his raw stats but improving his percentages as well. His percentages were supposed to go down, not up, but he’s shooting 59% from the field for the Rockets! Damn.

KOCC is real. KOCC is big. And KOCC is gonna drop a load on you. A load of points, that is.
