I’m trying to figure out why the heck the Heat traded for Nemanja Bjelica if they aren’t even going to play him. Yeah, he played in this game, and he played in the game prior to this one, but before that? Eight straight DNP-CD’s. Then eleven minutes in a loss to the Bulls. And then five more DNP-CD’s. Just add the Heat to the list of teams who have acquired Bjelica and then haven’t had the faintest idea of how to use him. There’s no way that Bjelica should be stuck to the bench like that. Yeah, he’s not a perfect player, but a lot of imperfect players who are imperfect in more egregious ways get more minutes than Bjelly.

Again, what was the point of the Moe Harkless/Chris Silva for Nemanja Bjelica swap? It was just a pointless shuffling around of players who don’t get minutes. It could have been a shrewd trade made by the king of shrewdness, Pat Riley, but it wasn’t, because Spo doesn’t want to play the guy they traded for. Was there some sort of miscommunication in the front office, where Spo said “Don’t trade for Buhjellicka I don’t want him” and Riley went ahead and did it anyway? Or did they all just gather in a conference room and snort piles of cocaine until some lackey said “we could trade for Bjelica and get his hopes up but then when he gets here we continue to ruin his career” and everybody just laughed and snorted more coke until the paperwork went through? None of this makes sense.

The best thing for Bjelica to do would be to go back to Europe after this season and stop trying to deal with NBA front offices that are just going to jerk him around. I hate to say it because I always want more Serbs in the NBA, not fewer Serbs, but a Serb receiving proper treatment in Europe is way better than a Serb being mistreated in America. Him being the hometown hero for Partizan Belgrade is a more fitting way to play out his career than being the 13th man on a fringe playoff team. I hereby apologize to the Serbian people on behalf of all Americans for the way we have treated your countryman.
