Tyler Ulis got more minutes than Brandon Knight tonight, who was once almost an All-Star with the Bucks. Ulis also got more minutes than Eric Bledsoe, who apparently needed rest so bad that he had to sit out the whole game. Not to mention more minutes than Ronnie Price who… that guy is still in the league? Damn. Impressive.
Ulis actually got more minutes than anybody except T.J. Warren tonight. Are the Suns finally throwing in the towel, pulling the plug on their season by trotting out the most marginal role-players possible? It looks that way, though Chandler and Bledsoe can’t get DNPs forever. Whatever the case, it’s good to see Ulis get some minutes, finally. He showed some flashes early in the season, but then got benched for the Suns playoff push (that’s the only explanation I can come up with, so it must be true).
Tonight, he set a career high in both points and assists, showing decent passing ability as well as a deceptive stepback jumper. Will we see more of this in the weeks to come? Depends on how hard the Suns are going to tank. A lineup of Ulis-Knight-Bledsoe-Price-Barbosa would be fun if they wanted my ultimate tanking advice.
