I was going to write some mean thing about how Nets fans shouldn’t get their hopes up Spencer “Din-Dins” Dinwiddie making four three-pointers in this game because he doesn’t usually shoot very well from outside, but then I looked up the stats and it turns out he’s shooting 42% from three after last night. Needless to say, I had to quick think of some new, less mean things to write for this description.
Can you even blame me? This guy was 13 of 75 from the threezone in his first two years in the league. That was a big part of the reason why I felt like he would probably end up in Europe sooner rather than later. But if he can be a consistent three-point threat as a tall point guard, that would be something that the league doesn’t see very much of, and the novelty of his combination of attributes would get him at least three or four years of bouncing around different teams.
So, if Din-Dins ever reads this, I’m sorry for not realizing that you’re a good low-volume three-point shooter. I promise to pay more attention next time. And if your three-point percentage drops closer to career norms like I expect it might, I promise to write mean words about you because I’m mad that I didn’t get to this time.
