Man, the Kings commentators were going in HARD on Georgios Papagiannis for dribbling the basketball before dunking it. I don’t get it; dribbling is one of the fundamental-est tenets of the game of basketball. It’s a good thing. Every player has that skill in their arsenal except for DeAndre Jordan. What, do they want The Greek Peak to just travel his way to the basket? He’s not one of those players who can just leap from wherever and slam it in. He has to get close before his explosive calves explode him up to the rim.
Aside from the dunks where he shamefully dribbled the ball, Papagiannis had a nice game. Subscribing to the Andre Drummond school of thought (“I’m big, so I should shoot hooks”), he hit some of those funky hook shots that he likes to take. He had a contorting tip-in rebound. But the real gem was the legit midrange jumper he calmly splashed. Can you say Dirk Nowitzki?
