The vast majority, if not all, of Ben McLemore’s points tonight came as a result of the Mavericks not putting on the court anybody who could guard him effectively. That happens sometimes, it’s not unheard of, though usually the offensive player is somebody named LeBron or Durant. McLemore is definitely a stoppable player, but the Mavs didn’t want to stop him, so here we are. 22 points.
I’m not hating or anything, he still had to make the shots, and some of the threes he made were surprisingly tightly contested. If he had started his late third-and-fourth quarter shooting earlier in the game, he might have had 40 for real. I guess at the beginning of the game Dallas was still semi-interested in trying to win.
