I feel so empowered right now.
First Sam Dekker, now Henry Ellenson, the amount of people just like me (white dudes from Wisconsin) in the NBA is making me feel like I too can be an NBA player. Seeing these dudes overcome long odds to follow their dream makes me swell with pride, and stirs within me a renewed desire to follow my own dreams.
The first dream that I wanted to follow has already been accomplished: make highlights of Henry Ellenson playing in the NBA and scoring in double digits. Wow! I’m good at this whole dream-following thing. Ellenson has spent most of the season in the D-League, only rarely getting in the game in the big-boy league. These are, aside from a single minute a few games ago, the first minutes for him since January, and for some reason Van Gundy decided he would be the starter. An unorthodox decision, but it worked (though Boban Marjanovic had more to do with that than Ellenson).
I’m not going to tell you the second dream that I’m working on following. You would just make fun of me.
