How do the words “Marquese Chriss 82-game starter” sound to you? Pretty darn good, right? Here’s the deal: if the Suns had realized that they sucked balls right at the start of the season instead of eight games in, Chriss would have not only played in every game, but started every game. So, we instead get “Marquese Chriss 82-game player”, which doesn’t sound nearly as cool and actually sounds really lame and only like 20 players this year have a chance of doing that instead of 5 or whatever.
Despite not starting all the games, Chriss had a great rookie season. He was the beneficiary of some blatant tanking, allowing him to put up shots that he wouldn’t otherwise get to put up, but not every rookie could have done what he did. Put Kris Dunn in his role and he probably doesn’t even dunk it more than 5 times, compared to Chriss, who dunked it a bajillion times, all of them off lobs from Tyler Ulis.
If DownToBuck was on top of things, he would have the Chriss dunkilation already all ready to go, but he’s pretty swamped right now with scrublights. Good things come to those who wait, or something.
