Archie Goodwin’s final averages for his time with the Brooklyn Nets this season: 8/2/2 on 56% shooting in fifteen minutes per game. That’s something to build on, but then again, Archie Goodwin repeatedly has had seasons that are worth building on, and he has yet to do any actual building. Next year with the Nets might be different; he’s still under contract, and they might as well keep him around to see if he can be a better version of Sean Kilpatrick (what even happened to that guy?).
In my opinion, Goodwin could average 17 points per game next year if he was the #2 option behind Lopez and ahead of Lin. The Nets would still be a horrible team if that was the case, but, hey, Goodwin would average 17! What could be more exciting and entertaining than that? If he really worked hard at it, he could become the second-least-likely person in NBA history to score 20 PPG (behind Mike James). It would take a lot of sacrifices from his teammates and the Nets might only win five games in that scenario, but I’m already itching to do highlights of it.
