I’m probably not the only one who had been slightly disappointed by Gary Harris’ play this season. I was still #hypedforgaryharris , obviously, but my hype was tempered by his reduced shooting percentages. His big contract doesn’t start until next year, and it’s not like he was sucking or anything, but I just expecting more. 20 ppg? I thought it could happen.
My disappointment is gone now. Hairy Garris has thrown off the fetters of vague disappointment and scored 36 points. Not over multiple games. People do that all the time. 36 points in one single game. In a season marked by point totals in the high teens or low twenties, he surprised everyone by dominating Kyreallybad Irving and Marcus Dumb. The Nuggets didn’t win, as their lack of competent bigs is starting to catch up with them, but who cares about real wins when you can have moral victories like Harris scoring 36?
We must now look ahead. It does no good to sit and enjoy this moment for any longer than tonight. You think Wilt sat around and jerked off while thinking about how he scored 100? No. He thought about how he could score 150! It didn’t happen, but 40 points in the future for Harris is totally possible. It could happen this year, easily. Next game? Yeah. I bet he could. Let’s see it happen.
