Dwight Powell Career High 21 Points Full Highlights (1/3/2018)

Dwight “Dwight Power” Powell seems like an ideal big man in today’s game: he can roll effectively to the basket to catch lobs, but he can also step out and hit jumpshots. There’s not a ton of players that can do both, and most coaches would enjoy having a player with that kind of versatility. However, you could make the argument that Powell doesn’t really count as a jumpshooter; his midrange attempts are way down this year and he’s shooting a nice 28% from three this year (up from 24% before this game).

Dwight Power has been a consistent “fifteen minutes off the bench” guy for pretty much his entire stint with Dallas. Now that he’s become hyper-efficient around the rim, I would like to see a team (it can be the Mavericks or somebody else, I don’t care) give him more minutes and a larger role so that he can average 14/9 for a year or two while catching a bunch of lobs.

On second thought, it will have to be the Mavericks, OR J.J. Barea will have to go to the same team that Powell does, because I don’t think Powell has ever caught a lob that wasn’t thrown by his Puerto Rican friend of small stature.
