Avery Bradley was brought in to the Pistons to elevate them to some sort of new level. Maybe it worked: the Pistons are, indeed, better than last year. I don’t know how much of that minor improvement he is responsible for, but he at least has not tanked the entire operation. Or, thought of another way, the Pistons got way better but then he came along and sucked them back down to .500-ish ball because of his suck gravity.
It’s kind of like the gravity Stephen Curry has except instead of being the good kind it’s the suck kind.
At least his contract isn’t so bad, and they didn’t have to get rid of anyone good to acquire him. I think he’s a free agent this year too, so if it ends up not working out the way everyone wanted (which is how it looks now), the Pistons can just send him out the door with a wave and a smile and tell him not to ever come back unless it’s to receive an ass-kicking.
