Gary Harris + Nikola Jokic + Jamal Murray = big three? They’re all averaging over 16 points per game, but Gary Harris is averaging the most at 17 PPG, so if it’s a big three, they’re not actually that “big”. Maybe it’s a “medium three”. For some reason, telling people that the Nuggets have a medium three wouldn’t be as satisfying as telling them about their big three.
Notice how Paul Millsap is left out of the big three discussions. Players who will be injured for multiple months forfeit their spot in any potential big three. Especially if they’re as overpaid as Millsap is.
I feel like if Gary Harris can up his scoring to 20 PPG (something that he should be capable of doing given how good of a scorer he currently is), the case for the Nuggets having a “big three” is given that much more legitimacy. He’s their leading scorer, but he doesn’t feel like their leading scorer since the Nuggets have quite the collection of potent point-getters. If he can ascend one more level and take the full, unambiguous scoring load on his team (the whole load, not just a taste), I will be more #hypedforgaryharris than ever before.
