Why didn’t anyone tell me this was a career high for Kent Bazemore (looking at you, Dominique Wilkins and Bob Rathbun, you abdicated your duties)? This vid was uploaded for like three minutes without “Career High” in the title, because I assumed that he scored 30 at some point. I swear I made a vid of him scoring that money, but I guess not, because this is the most he’s ever scored in an NBA game.
I rely on the commentators to let me know when stuff like this happens. Normally I have a good memory for it, but I’m not perfect, and it’s up to the guys at the mics to get really excited a player sets a new high-water mark. Even if their team is losing, even if they just watched their star player go down with an exploded knee. It’s part of the contract they have with the fans, and that contract was broken tonight.
It’s possible that they mentioned it after the fact, but am I going to sit there and watch the game so that I can maybe hear something like that? No. My time is precious. Each wasted minute means another scrub who doesn’t get a video.
Big props to Bazemore for scoring 29 tonight. It’s not his fault that the commentators didn’t care. He took it to his old buddy Stephen Curry. Took it right at him, even hit a fadeaway in his face. I’d even go so far as to call this a “revenge game” against the Warriors. People don’t really remember his time on that squad except for his towel-waving abilities, and for good reason. I definitely made some vids of him from that era, which are gone now, and it’s remarkable how much he’s improved. More props to him.
