Dënniß ßchrööder had some bad games in the month of February, including 2-of-16, 3-of-12, and 4-of-13 shooting performances. If he wants to average twenty points per game and get his name listed among all the greats that accomplished the same feat, he’ll have to ramp up his production for the last month of the season, since his average of 19.4 is deceptively far away from the magical twenty. This might be the last season where he can reasonably do it because the Hawks will have some stud rookie who will shoulder much of the scoring load which, by default, fell on ßchrööder.
I don’t think we have to worry about ßchrööder getting benched at any point this season, for two reasons: none of the other point guards on the roster really have starter potential, and ßchrööder isn’t good enough to single-handedly win games just with his presence. Regarding the first point, Malcolm Delaney is old and probably done developing. Isaiah Taylor and Tyler Dorsey could maybe use some more development, but the hope there is they just turn out to be competent backups. You can take Delaney out of the lineup to give more minutes to those guys. On the second point, ßchrööder has seemed to be a negative on the court about half of the games he played in February, so playing him 35 minutes per game is actually a form of “stealth tanking”.
