Shawn Marion is many things. All-Star. Illinoisan. Olympian. Male. Champion. But is he a Hall-of-Famer?
Some would say no. But those people are wrong. So wrong, in fact, that I do not need to go into detail about the ways in which they are wrong because the wrongness is so self evidently wrong. The correct answer is “Yes, of course, the Hall of Fame values players whose contributions extend beyond raw point totals.”
They might retort “But DownToBuck, it’s not the ‘Hall of pretty good’, it’s the ‘Hall of Fame’, and Shawn Marion is just pretty good.” And I would not listen, because as soon as they started disagreeing with me I automatically tuned out their voice and started thinking about cheeseburgers. I have no need to listen to wrong people with wrong opinions. Maybe they should reconsider their position and we might continue this conversation when they agree with me.
