I debated whether or not I should make this video for Kadeem “The Deem” Allen. The deciding factor was not the fourteen points (which looks absolutely pathetic and worthless next to the 25 points he scored two games ago), but the nine assists, which is a lot for somebody who I don’t think is ever billed as a “passer”.
If Allen had just gotten one more assist, I wouldn’t have had to spend so much time ruminating impossible questions like “should I make Kadeem Allen highlights” and “what is the nature of consciousness” and “what if nothing existed at all” and “does not various cultures’ beliefs in many mutually exclusive deities disprove them all” and I could have just gotten to work making this highlight video with no fuss or muss. That’s the problem with having such ambiguous standards for my channel. Basically my one rule for a video is that it has to fulfill the DownToBuck ethos, but what that ethos actually is, nobody (not even me) knows.
Now I’ve come back from the existentialist edge to make this video and, guess what, it’s not that great. It’s okay, but not great. The best part was watching Allen lie on the ground like he was dead, even though all that happened was he got slapped in the eye. I mean, I’m sure it wasn’t fun to watch live, but I was privy to the knowledge that he scored a bunch of points after the “injury”, so I knew he would be okay even though he was lying there like he got violently concussed and didn’t know where he was.
