Jonathan Isaac continues his recent run of strong play with a sixteen-point outing, proving once again that haters like myself should stop drinking haterade and let young players develop a little bit before proclaiming them to be useless scrubusts (that’s scrub and bust combined). I don’t know if I ever actually called him a scrub or a bust but I definitely have been hard on him in previous video descriptions (although if you look at his borked shot form, you’d want to be hard on him too).
In the last eleven games, Isaac has scored in double-digits nine times. That doesn’t sound like much for the guy who was the sixth overall pick a year ago, but it’s significant progress from where he was at closer to the beginning of the season. It’s gotten to the point where I’m not surprised when he has a decent scoring game. It’s also gotten to the point where I might need to adjust the points threshold he needs to meet before qualifying for a highlight video.
Not only that, but Isaac’s streak of good games is coinciding directly with an unexpected series of W’s for the Magic. It’s almost like they’re a good team when he’s doing well. I don’t normally want to root for directionless, mismanaged franchises like the Magic, but I’m sort of hoping they sneak into the playoffs right now. Don’t tell anyone.
