I’m going to try to do something new for this video description: make a valid basketball point that’s not solely based on half-remembered player attributes mixed with some haterisms and some overreliance on statistical metrics that have since been discredited. Are you ready? Here it comes.
You sure you ready? Stop reading right now if you aren’t ready.
Okay.
Collin Sexton is this season’s equivalent to last season’s De’Aaron Fox.
I admit, it might not be the greatest or most insightful comparison ever drawn between players, but it’s also definitely not the worst. I’ve made many worse comparisons in the last week alone, much less in the seven years I’ve been making highlight videos. I compare the two because they both have/had negative win-shares in their rookie seasons despite putting up okay-looking counting stats. Both have/had visible amounts of great potential, but it was locked away behind the bars of youth. Both have/had crazy hair. Both were/are part of bad teams that weren’t/aren’t able to actually compete meaningfully for a playoff spot. Both are notable for their speed.
So, there you have it. Do you think that was good enough to land a job at ESPN or did it have too many facts in it?
