Darren Collison 23 Points/10 Assists Full Highlights (3/2/2019)

Darren Collison has been in the NBA for 10 years now, a length of time sometimes termed a “decade”. 10 whole years of SOLID as HECK point guard play. Nothing really notable except for his rookie season where he replaced an injured (sound familiar?) Chris Paul and turned into a beast, but eminently solid. I wasn’t around for that rookie season, well, I was, but I wasn’t caring about anything other than Brandon Jennings and Fear The Deer, but I’m guessing that there was a ton of hype for Collison back then.

If there was, it’s gone now. Really gone. Goner than gone. The problem with being consistently solid for so long is people start to forget you exist. Sucky players, people notice because they’re constantly doing sucky things on the court. Collison has done sucky things off the court (I’m going to keep bringing up his domestic violence issue until the end of time), but once he’s on the hardwood, you know what you’re going to get. Some threes, maybe some long twos, and pick-and-pops with whatever semi-shooting big he happens to be sharing the court with.

I think he had one assist in this game that wasn’t a pick-and-roll/pop. That seems to be the Pacers favorite thing to do, meanwhile, I don’t think I’ve seen even one pick-and-roll this whole Bucks season. Who says that NBA teams all play the same? They totally do not, especially when a team has a coach who’s sort of stuck in the past like the Pacers.
