Joe Ingles AKA Jinglin’ Joe AKA Sloppy Joe AKA Slo-mo Joe AKA Outback LeBron must be a tough player to play against. He doesn’t look like he should be able to school you, but then he does, even though he looks like he should be teaching geography to middle schoolers. And then he talks about it even though the last thing you want to hear about is how some sloppy Australian guy just took it right at you and came out on top.
I wonder if Ingles’ trash-talk ever includes elements of self-deprecation. “Heya cunt, me and my flappy beer gut just left you in the dust, mate,” or “Fat Aussie up your fat assie!” or “I eat kangaroo burgers and fries for every meal but you can’t stop me.” That would cause maximum butthurt in his opponents for sure. Their own failures would be amplified to distracting porportions each time Ingles fools them with a crafty pick-and-roll or splashes a dripping-wet three right in their face.
I bring this up because, late in this game Ingles was able to bait Bobby Portis into an offensive foul/turnover. Portis just couldn’t take any more trash talk. His self-worth was being reduced to rubble every time Ingles opened his mouth. Now I’m sitting here thinking I should be nicer to Ingles in my descriptions because I don’t want him talking trash to me and me getting so shook that I delete my YouTube account entirely.
