Juan Hernangomez is getting marginalized HARD to start this season. Often, when a player is getting marginalized, they’re simply playing fewer minutes than they expected. Hernangomez has, in most games this season, been playing ZERO minutes. He never comes off the bench. That’s next-level marginalization right there.
You’ll know that the marginalization level is off the charts when you learn that Hernangomez had made only two field goals prior to tonight. Through eleven games, he made just two buckets. That’s insane for a scorer of Hernangomez’ caliber (that is to say, he’s a decent scorer). He wasn’t even scoring when he actually got minutes, which wasn’t very often. So, not only was Hernangomez getting marginalized by his coach via DNP’s, he was marginalized by his teammates (who weren’t getting the ball to him often enough) and he was even getting marginalized by himself (failing to take advantage of the scant opportunities he was given).
Meanwhile, Juan’s brother Willy is also getting marginalized HARD in Charlotte, having appeared in even fewer games and having made fewer shots than his brother. Why is the league black-balling the Hernangomezes? If this keeps up, they’re both going back to Spain, and, who knows, maybe they’ll take Kristaps back with them.
