Jaren Jackson Jr. just set a career-high in three-point makes with five of them in this game. His shooting form still doesn’t sit right with me, but if your unorthodox shooting form allows you to shoot almost 38% from the deepzone, then I suppose you should keep shooting it that way and not try to emulate Klay’s release or anything. I have the same philosophy with my own jumpshooting form, which is really wonky, but it’s also more accurate than 90% of pickup players so there’s no point in “fixing” it.
Three-pointers are making up a large enough chunk of JJJ’s total shot attempts that it seems proper to bestow him with the title of “stretch four”. If he already had that title, it didn’t count because I wasn’t the one to bestow it upon him. Now that the title of “stretch four” has been officially bestowed upon him by the official title-bestower DownToBuck, it will remain with him for the rest of his career, or until he decides that he shouldn’t be such a perimeter-oriented player.
Now that I’m on a role bestowing these titles, I’ll bestow JJJ with another one: official locker room peacekeeper. That means, when the losses are piling up and players start getting feisty with each other in the locker room over missed defensive rotations and poor shot selection, Jackson Jr. is the one who has to step in to keep things calm and cordial. As a perk of this new title, he will be issued one (1) switchblade that will aid him in keeping the peace.
