This was actually a really nice scoring game for Troy Brown. I went into it thinking it would be a bunch of lame shots that somehow propelled him to 22 points, but no. He had a nice variety of stuff going on in this game. Pullup midrange jimbos? I haven’t been watching a lot of ‘Zards games, but I didn’t know he could do that. And he was just shooting them like that’s the shot that he always takes?
I feel like there are a lot of people who, like me, are generally unaware of the state of Brown’s game. If a casual NBA fan could say anything at all about him (which is unlikely), they’d probably go with his athleticism. I’m pretty sure athleticism is something that he has (I’m not just thinking of Devin Robinson here), and I think he was renowned for it in college. Aside from that, though… eh. Nothing notable, really.
Something that will help his cause is more performances like this. No more backseat wallflower Troy Brown. We need grab-life-by-the-ball Kobe-esque-chucker Troy Brown. The ‘Zards are hardly winning games as it is, and you may claim that they don’t need more offense, that they have enough offense already, but what kind of NBA team would say no to more offense? Brown can raise his national profile to at least the level of Miles Bridges if he just tells Bradley Beal to chill out on the chucking for a bit and chuck those shots in his place.
