A surfeit of really good scoring performances from Coby White has managed to distract the casual NBA fan (or even the slightly more informed NBA fan) from his overall dismal shooting numbers. That’s okay, because casuals (due to their disgusting ignorance and worthless opinions) deserve to be fooled and tricked as much as possible. And I’m pretty sure Kobe Bryant used the same strategy, so that’s also a good sign for White. What rookie doesn’t want to be comparable to Kobe?
White already has Kobe beat in the “fro” department. And it’s not even close. The passing of time has put “Frobe” into the realm of legends, but if you actually go back and look at pics from him in those days, that’s one weak-ass fro. I swear it looked a lot bigger to little-kid DownToBuck.
Let’s just continue with the Kobe comparisons. This one is a negative; Kobe NEVER would’ve finished a game without making a jumper. He just wouldn’t let it happen, he’d shoot it every time just to get that jumper (in a hypothetical scenario where he hadn’t made any yet, which in reality was only the case in the first minute of a game). White made nothing but layups in this one, and that’s cool, because layups are good for rookies to be able to make. But there’s not as much raw excitement being emanated from this vid as there was when he hit all those threes in the 4th quarter while his old college coach screamed at him from the stands to square his shoulders and hold his follow through.
