I can’t believe I passed up MULTIPLE New Year’s party invitations just so I could make frickin’ Alec Burks highlights. Maybe, just for tonight, to justify my decision, I should go and make a vid for whatever crazy performance Luka Doncic had tonight. Because right now, I looked up “regret” in the dictionary and all it did was tell me the definition, but I totally imagined on the page a picture of me wearing my festive party hat and drinking my festive punch and trying not to cry.
Luckily I made the punch really strong so all the tears diluting it have had very little effect on the taste.
This is not meant to denigrate Burks. I love Burks. Okay, “love” is putting it strongly, but I was a fan of him in Utah where he well and truly earned his nickname of “Houdini”. And I’m still a fan of him with the Warriors, where their total lack of offensive talent means he gets to do all the midrange chucking and funky finishing he wants without anyone telling him not to, and maybe a few people telling him to do it even harder.
28 points is a lot of points. I would be even sadder if I was wasting my time with something totally lame like 20 points, but 28 points is legit. Not legit enough for me to stop thinking about all the pretty girls I could be hanging out with right now, but legit enough for me to possibly find enjoyment in it once tonight is over.
