I know this video is all about Danuel House Jr. and his sploits (that’s cool-person talk for “exploits”) from behind the arc, but I just want to point the absurdity of Ben McLemore’s statline this game: 4 of 4 from the field, all threes, 1 of 2 from the line, no other stats besides 6 fouls in 13 minutes. I was kind of wondering why I wasn’t seeing more of him this game, and now I know why; he was using every possession either making a three or fouling somebody.
McLemore’s foul-proneness opened the door for House to play 42 minutes in this one. The Rockets are going with a super-tight rotation, with all their starters playing over 40, except for P.J. Tucker who only managed 39 minutes and 41 seconds. I guess when you don’t REALLY have to play defense, you can play for as long as you want without getting too worn out. Defense is tough! There’s a reason that players in the old days played so many minutes, and that reason is that while they played defense, the defense they were playing did not involve nearly as much running around the court as it would these days.
So House got to play tons of minutes, and he took advantage of the opportunity, canning 6 threes on 12 attempts. If you want to save some time watching this video, you can watch the first bucket (him doing a nice drive for a fancy layup) and then skip to around 0:36 where he hits a filthy stepback three right in Kristaps Poronavirus’ stupid face. Unless you’re the type of dude who would sit down and watch 10-minute long videos of people hitting nothing but threes (otherwise called a three-ilation), in which case, go ahead and watch the whole thing.
