Lost in the blindingly radiant aura of T.J. Warren, who is lighting up the NBA restart with monster game after monster game, is the fact that some other Pacers players are not playing up to expectations at all. It’s fun for Warren to try to drag his team to victory all by himself, but the recipe for playoff success is to get solid contributions from your role-players. At least, I assume that’s what the recipe for playoff success. Having personally never been to the playoffs (or even on an NBA roster), I can only conjecture.
Justin Holiday is one of those players who has looked pretty awful in The Bubb so far. It’s fun to restrict your thoughts to only the players that are dominating on a new, higher level of dominance, but it can also be fun to think about the players who are taking their games to new lows of absolute garbage. “Absolute garbage” might be overstating how bad Holiday is right now, but it’s a fairly close descriptor. Check out these shooting lines in the games prior to this one:
2-of-9, 1-of-3, 2-of-7, 1-of-7, 1-of-5, 2-of-8.
Okay, yeah. That’s absolute garbage. Thankfully he had this good game to inform us that his jumpshot isn’t permanently broken forever.
“Skinny like KD, shoots like Antoine Walker” should be the catchphrase of his fans. If he has any fans.
