I am of the opinion that ANY player who is 7’2″ and has ANY mobility at all can be molded into a useful NBA player. The old axiom “height can’t be taught” applies here, and it especially applies to somebody who stands at a few inches above seven feet. That’s the kind of height that not only can’t be taught, it’s the kind of height that is an affront to god, because somebody who is that tall can reach up to the sky and literally poke god in the balls. Man was never supposed to be able to poke the divine testes.

Moses Brown is raw for sure. His free throws are an abomination, and free throws are a good barometer for “does this guy have any natural affinity for the game of basketball”. But Brown has good mobility and he can sometimes catch the ball. That’s all you need to be a successful seven-foot-two guy in the NBA, and Brown’s got it.

Imagine if Brown managed to add a jumpshot to his arsenal. Not a three-point shot, just any kind of jumpshot at all. He would have to rework his form so he wasn’t doing Shaq-esque one-handed push shots, but I think fixing his obviously unpracticed jumper is more doable than fixing shot mechanics that are more subtly incorrect but have been relied on for years. Get him a shooting coach, and we could have the second coming of Alexis Ajinca on our hands, except not as plodding. That would be a beast player. You might think I’m joking, but I literally have Ajinca in my “top five most underrated/underutilized bigs of the decade” list. Brown should consider it the highest honor to receive this comparison from me.
