My efforts to get Serbs to donate to my Patreon by incessantly pandering to them have not been met with much success. I do not doubt that Serbs support me in all my endeavors, but, for some reason, that emotional support has not translated into monetary support. Of course, I will gladly continue to receive all emotional support that the people of Serbia see fit to offer me, regardless of whether or not they are able to support me in other ways. Every video view that is flagged by YouTube as coming from within Serbian borders is a video view that I cherish and hold closely to my heart.
I’m not an economics expert. In fact, economics is one of the weak points of my scholarly learnedness. There’s a reason that my video descriptions very rarely turn into treatises on the nature of money flow through world economies. But I think part of the reason why Serbs don’t donate to my Patreon is that the economics simply don’t work out for them. Serbia is a poorer country than the United States, but my Patreon pricing tiers are set with American incomes in mind.
After doing some Googling, I found that prices for goods in Serbia (when converted from dinars to dollars) are about 60%-70% less than the identical goods in America. Average wages are maybe 30% of American wages when converted. I don’t know how the percentages work out, but it basically comes down to the fact that Serbs make less, so stuff costs less, but not so much less that the purchasing power between Serbs and Americans is equivalent. I don’t know. None of this makes sense to me. Patreon should be automatically adjusting my tier prices to account for this, or something.
So, in the end, I forgive Serbs for not donating to my Patreon, and I would encourage all of them to write letters to Bogdan Bogdanovic so that he can donate to my Patreon instead. If he donates one dollar per Serbian citizen that would be acceptable for me. It’s a reasonable goal, given that nearly all Serbian citizens surely wish to donate to my Patreon but simply don’t have the means to. Bogdanovic and his big contract can provide the means. It’s the least he can do after he demolished the Bucks and sent me into a spiral of anguish from which there is no escape.
