Sorry about this vid. It’s Jonas Valanciunas scoring a career-high 32 points. That’s not the part I’m sorry about. Well, it kind of is. Because this vid contains a LOT of free throws.
Free throws, as you all know, are the lamest part of any highlight viewing experience. Just a dude standing 15 feet away from the basket shooting an uncontested shot. We have seen the exact same thing thousands of times in the past. We will see see the exact same things thousands of times in the future. I have some ideas for solving this horrific blight upon basketball, but I’m feeling like I should save those ramblings for a description on a vid that doesn’t show a career high.
Anyway, there’s a good amount of primo Jonas action if you can sit through the boring bits. Like that dunk on Boban. ESPECIALLY that dunk on Boban. Holy moly. It reminded me of the time Tyler Hansbrough dunked on Kenny George the 7-foot-7 freak back when Psycho-T was still in college. Just rising right over the barely-mobile giant and taking him down along with the rim.
He did some other stuff as well, but it was, in the end, about the same as the stuff he’s been doing his whole career. Some jumpers. Some layups. A dunk or two. Not exactly boring, but nothing too exciting to bring in the new year. Remember, Jonas, that most white-skinned bigmen can shoot threes now. Get on it.
