We live in strange times.
When Evan Fournier first came on the scene for the Nuggets back in 2013, there was nothing in his game to suggest that he would, one day, be the #1 option on an NBA team. Even as his career progressed, I never thought to myself that he would at some point in the future carry the bulk of the scoring load for a real-life NBA squad, not even D-League, I’m talking real NBA here.
Yet here we are. It says a lot about the state of the Magic that their two best offensive threats are Fournier and Serge Ibaka. Namely, it says that Orlando is really bad on that side of the basketball. I still don’t understand why they traded Tobias Harris. I guess because Aaron Gordon was supposed to make a huge leap, but he hasn’t yet, so for now they have to cobble together buckets out of spare parts and sheer willpower.
