“Hello, yes, I’d like to have my computer fixed. I think it got a virus or something; it doesn’t turn on any more.”
“Well, put it up on the counter and I’ll see what I can do.”
The customer read the attendants name tag.
“Evan Fournier. That’s an exotic sounding name. You French?”
“Yes, France is my homeland, I love… Oh. Oh my. The situation for your computer is very grave. Very grave indeed. There appears to be only one solution, and you’re not going to like it.”
“Do whatever it takes, as long as you keep the data intact. Don’t want to lose those vacation photos. And some other kinds of photos too, if you know what I mean.”
The corners of Evan’s mouth raised slightly as he hit the button under the desk. The wall behind the counter fell away, revealing behind it a regulation sized basketball court.
“Wha…”
Wordlessly, Fournier grabbed the computer and took off running to the nearest basket.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
The customer had just barely finished his question before the answer was revealed. Fournier jumped from just outside the restricted circle, the computer tower in his hands, and jammed it through the basket. It hit the hardwood and exploded violently, with hard drives, memory, and other electronic miscellany flying everywhere.
Fournier walked back up to the counter.
