This is about the time of the NBA season where things start to get weird. Scrubs start getting big minutes. Rookies who were buried on the bench the whole year get to strut their stuff. Veterans sit out with phantom injuries. Yes, it’s that time of year again. My favorite time.
One of the weirder occurrences is that Johnny “Cash” Jenkins now has back-to-back 20 points games, after not scoring above 15 the whole rest of the season. It makes you wonder what the Hawks were doing playing DeShawn Stevenson all this time. Can he make crazy, twisting, no-look passes like Jenkins can? Maybe in practice.
Please note the “assist” to Josh Smith at 0:59. Have you ever seen such a non-assist? Josh Smith waited for like half a minute before taking a bunch of dribbles and laying it up. Jenkins had absolutely nothing to do with it. Why does he get an assist? Forget about Kings vs Lakers. This is how Stern REALLY rigs the league.
